We often get asked for scooter options that are lightweight (under 30 lbs) and can also get plenty of range. Unfortunately with current battery technology, you can't have both. The fact is, battery cells are heavy, and hardly any scooters are considered 'lightweight'. The ones that come close can maybe get a total of 15-25 km of real-world range depending on the model.
However, none of the models launched by Mukuta weigh less than 30 pounds. The current Mukuta 8 series and Mukuta 10 Lite weigh no less than 66 pounds because they are equipped with powerful motors.
Can I ride in the rain?
Riders beware! Over 90% of e-scooters should never be ridden in the rain.
When it comes to IP ratings, nearly all electric scooters can tolerate light splashes, i.e., IPX4. Unfortunately, most e-scooters can not safely be ridden in the rain. Most scooters have a dust/water resistance rating of IPX4 or IP54, and very few scooters are rated above IP54. If a scooter has a rating of IPX4 or lower you really shouldn't even ride on wet roads.
The good news is that we now only source scooters with a waterproof rating of at least IP54, for example, the Mukuta 10plus has an IP54 waterproof rating, and the Mukuta 8 series and 9 series have an IP X6 waterproof rating. And we test each model thoroughly before including it in our product line. Keep in mind, that just because a scooter has an IP54 / IPX6 water rating doesn't mean it's waterproof. They can still get water damaged so never hose down your scooter to clean it and always avoid puddles when possible.
